Robertsdale chief elected to Association Executive Board

ROBERTSDALE, Ala. – Robertsdale Police Chief Bradley Kendrick will serve the next year as sergeant -at-arms for the Alabama Association of Chiefs Executive Board.

Kendrick, a 22-year veteran of RPD, the last eight as chief, was elected to the position at the Association’s Summer Conference earlier this month.

“My duties as sergeant-at-arms include assisting the secretary, vice president and president wherever possible,” Kendrick said. That includes assisting with meetings and training. “I make sure everyone is where they’re supposed to be.”

Kendrick, a native and resident of Robertsdale, previously served the Board as a representative for District 1, serving six counties including Baldwin, Mobile, Escambia, Washington and portions of Monroe and Clarke, a position now held by Bay Minette Police Chief Michael Rowland.

Police chiefs in Alabama are required to complete 20 hours of executive level training each year, Kendrick said. Training sessions are held at various locations throughout the year.

If chiefs are unable to complete training at other times, training can be completed at either of two conferences, a Winter Conference, which will be held next January in Hoover, and a Summer Conference, which was held this August in Orange Beach.

Executive Board elections are held during the Summer Convention every year.

Chief Terry Davis of Boaz near Gadsden was elected president at this year’s convention. Other officers are Heath Allred, Carbon Hill in Walker County, vice president; Nathaniel Rutledge Jr. of Bessemer in Jefferson County near Birmingham, secretary; and Lance Bonds of Level Plains in Dale County near Enterprise, chaplain. Elections were also held for the Board’s six district representatives.

The Association has served police chiefs in Alabama since 1971.
