In other business Monday, the council approved the transfer of lease for a daycare facility operating on land owned by the city.
Karen Bill, who operates the property under Country Care Learning Center, requested the transfer of the property lease to Lynn Beasley, officials said Monday.
The 2,700-square-foot facility was constructed with a Community Development Block Grant received in 1998, its original purpose as a daycare facility for the Delphi Company, which was housed in the old Robertsdale Vanity Fair plant.
But about the time construction of the daycare was finished, the Delphi plant closed, forcing the city to find a private lessee for the property. The facility currently serves as a Central Annex for Baldwin County government.
The city would eventually lease the property to Bill. The facility was expanded in 2006 and again in 2010, and now includes about 20 employees.
In June of last year, the council approved an expansion of the property which included a 2,000- to 2,200-square-foot open metal facility which acts as kind of a gymnasium-type facility. It also includes restrooms and a small storage area.
At the same time, the council voted to extend the lease agreement between the city and Bill from 10 years to 15 years for the sum of $1,400 per month.
The council also voted Monday to approve a renewal request from the Robertsdale High School volleyball team at a cost of $150.
