ROBERTSDALE, Alabama -- Business was booming on Friday, May 17 at Robertsdale Dental Care, but it had nothing to do with making money. In fact, no money changed hands.
Robertsdale Dental Care held its seventh annual Dentists With A Heart event on Friday, offering free tooth extractions throughout the day.
Five dentists and more than 25 volunteers from three dental offices helped with the event, which saw at least 60 people on Friday. The 2012 event drew more than 80 people, performing 130 extractions in one day, said Katie Spratlin, marketing director at Robertsdale Dental Care.
“The first person in line at 7 o’clock this morning had been here since 8 o’clock last night, she said, “and camped out overnight to make sure they had a place in line today.”
Dentists With a Heart is a community outreach event designed to help those in need by offering free extractions. Dentists participating included Dr. Jason Northcutt and Dr. Jeremy Hardy from Robertsdale Dental Care; Dr. David Northcutt and Dr. JoEllen Havron from Northcutt Dental Practice; and Dr. Richard Glass from New Georgia Family Healthcare.
“We strive to see as many patients as possible during Dentists With a Heart, and we are so glad we can offer this free service each year,” said Dr. Jason Northcutt, owner of Robertsdale Dental Care, in a press release issued before the event. “At our 2012 event we performed more than 130 extractions in one day – that is an incredible number and still, we had patients we regrettably were not able to see.”
Sponsors for the 2013 event included Chick-fil-A, Camping World, Biohorizon, Lee Drugs, Goldner & Associates, Moo Che Che, Tim Brown Entertainment, Regions Bank, Campbell’s Hardware, Sam’s Club, Robertsdale Power Equipment, Panera Bread, City of Robertsdale, Coca Cola, Airgas, Crest Oral B, Henry Schein and Benco.
Robertsdale Dental Care opened in 1998 serving central Baldwin County as a general dentistry practice. Dr. Jason Northcutt and team have grown exponentially including the addition of Dr. Jeremy Hardy, and added services including sedation and cosmetic services.
Currently, Northcutt is an area leader in sedation dentistry with a wide array of services including dental implants, full-mouth reconstruction and veneers with Hardy offering limited orthodontia services in addition to general dentistry.
