ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — It was a morning of academic excellence at Robertsdale Elementary School on Friday as 147 first-sixth grade students received awards for achievements throughout the year.
This was the 22nd year for the program and RES Principal Faye Sheppard welcomed all those in attendance. “The awards presented today are the results of many hours of hard work and dedication to the goal of achieving academic success. We are very proud of these students and believe that positive reinforcement will motivate them to continue this trend next year and in the years to come.”
Special guests taking part in the program were Mrs. Linda Noble, Baldwin County Schools Elementary Supervisor, Mrs. Diane Homes, RES Assistant Principal, Mr. Mark Doherty, RES Assistant Principal, Dr. Alan T. Lee, Baldwin County Public School Superintendent, Mrs. Sue Cooper, Robertsdale City Councilwoman, Mrs. Lynn Hackney, RES PTO President and Mrs. Niki Whitaker, President of Hub City Lions Club.
The RES choir, under the direction of Susie Vivar, also sang some songs.
The first category of awards were for a poster contest the Lions Club sponsored about peace and the winners were: first place, Hayden Justice, second place, Britania Scott and third place, Blaze Wright.
The Principal’s Award, given to students in the first-sixth grade who have an “A” (90) average for the first three nine week periods in Math, Reading (must be on or above grade level the entire year), Language, Spelling, Science, Social Studies, was awarded to:
Catherine Abelo, Harleigh Byerly, Kelsea Darden, Alexandra Haddad, Gabe Hadley, Tryston Johnson, Jocelyn Martin, Lauren Mims, Timothy Moore, Belinda Pineda, Lewis Reynolds, Alex Stanfield, Thomas Stone, Sadie Suire, Brian Taylor, Tristan Williams (First Grade).
Second Grade: Camden Devine, Treanna Dowdy, Bella Glattli, Charles Hicks, Shawn McEachron, Jennifer Obispo, Kennedy Saxon, Logan Shipp, Brianna Smith, Lynn Weathers, Andrew Wilkerson, Logan Wilson.
Third Grace: Nelson Brock, Aiden Calvert, Haley Fuller, Brooklyn Haigler, Katheryne Harrison, Jonah Peterson, Jace Robinson and Tyler Stewart. Fourth Grade: Kennan Ard, Tyler Cason, Sarah Hall, Presley Holland, Wesley Ryan,
Fifth Grade: Joseph Bassett, Skylar Calloway, Sydnei Harrington, Hannah Jones, Kennan Martin, Aza Salter, Robert Shelton, Richard Williams, Justine Wilson.
The Superintendent’s Award goes to those in first-sixth grade who have earned all “A’s” for each of the three nine week periods in Math, Reading (on or above grade level for entire year), Language, Spelling, Science and Social Studies. Those students are: First Grade, Jasmine Ashcraft, Makenna Blair, Kamryn Byrd, Francheska Campos, Alex Cruz, Alana Dostal, McKenzie Fank, Fisher Kelley, Jessica Killough, Emma Kate Langham, Abrianna Madden, Kelsey Magon , Alison McDaniel, Jordan Morris, Andrew Prather, Peyton Salvaggio, Maura Schwab, Lena Spears, Sayler Thomas, Ismael Tinajero-Neave.
Second Grade: Noah Adams, Seth Allen, Payton Barnes, Veronica Brock, Gabe Brooks, Landon Brooks, Tyler Brown, Jayden Brown, Kelsie Brownlow, Caylyn Campbell, Maddie Cooper, Emily Crandall, Grant Driver, Felicity Evans, Coalten Glass, Phillip Hamilton, Brayden Hilburn, Austin Howell, Siraj Islam, Jack Kyte, Gillian Langham, Nathan Lewis, Clinton Luker, Gavin Martin, Trey McKinney, Zoe Meadors, Celeste Odom, Emory Page, Calvin Parnell, Eli Roberson, Rachel Salac, Gracie Sharp, Isabella Summerville and Ryan Weaver.

Fourth Grade: Christian Aikens, Ian Boutwell, Brad Day, Scott Evans, Cayla Jarvis, John William Kelley, Grace King, Dawn Kranak, John Leigh, Chase Melvin, Blakeley Mosley, Cheyenne Perkins, Sydney Plato, Kerri Roach, Lauren Shaw, Ariel Smith ,
Fifth Grade: Kaitlyn Allen, Camille Buettner, Elizabeth Byrd, Shelton Deen, Eryka Hobby, Ruthie Quarles, Cullen Thurs, Hannah Wallace , Sixth Grade: Margaret DeBall, Sara Devine, Ryan Houser and Alex Reaves.
The last set, the Presidential Awards, are given to those sixth graders who have maintained an “A” average in fourth-sixth grade and have scored in the 85th percentile on the Math and Reading portion of the SAT (Stanford Achievement Test). Receiving those are: Margaret DeBell, Sarah Devine and Alex Reaves.
“I just want to congratulate all the students and say what a wonderful educational environment you have here at Robertsdale Elementary. I believe a school is only as good as the students who go there and I am so proud of the good job you all are doing,” said Lee before giving out the Superintendent’s Awards.
In her closing remarks, Sheppard said “I would like to thank all the people who made this program possible and especially Mrs. Beth Driver for coordinating this program. Also, Mrs. Courtney Mosely for organizing the reception. Congratulations to all the students who received awards. We are very proud of you.”
At the end of the program, all the award recipients and their families were treated to cake and punch in the cafeteria.
