LOXLEY, Alabama — The Robertsdale Garden Club honored long-time member Charlotte Zinner at its annual Christmas party held Thursday, Dec. 8 at the cottage of Barbara Johnson at Steelwood Country Club in Loxley. Zinner is a three-term president of the organization, has served as chairman of the annual flower show at the Baldwin County Fair, and is presently recording secretary/treasurer. A beautiful engraved star was presented to Zinner in recognition of her service and dedication to the club.

A delicious luncheon of seafood gumbo and chicken gumbo and various dishes were prepared and enjoyed by the members. Following the luncheon, a short meeting was conducted by President Barbara Johnson. Johnson reported that the club provided a Thanksgiving ham dinner for a family in need. Members will also donate a Christmas dinner and gifts for a family in need. Mary Ann Lindsay was winner of the door prize. A question and answer session was held to offer members gardening tips. Hostesses for the luncheon were Barbara Johnson and Katie Warren.

The Robertsdale Garden Club invites and welcomes all interested parties to attend their meetings which are held the second Thursday of each month at 2 p.m. at the G. P. Thames Senior Center in Robertsdale. Next meeting, Jan. 12, will feature Beau Brodbeck who is an Extension Specialist in Urban and Community Forestry with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. Brodbeck will present a program on the hawk. A demonstration on constructing a terrarium will be the program for February’s meeting. Guests should call 251-989-7341 for additional information.
