ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — The Robertsdale Garden Club started its new year on Thursday, Sept. 8. Under the direction of new president Barbara Johnson, members and guests gathered at the George P. Thames Senior Center in Robertsdale.
Programs for the year were reviewed and will include information on honey bees, building terrariums, the “Blood Lily,” various field trips and Christmas party.
The club will participate in the Baldwin County Fair Flower Show with the theme “To Bloom or Not to Bloom.” Members will also assist the Summerdale Elementary School in participating in the flower show. Members were encouraged to attend the District VIII meeting which will be held on Monday, Oct. 24 at Craft Farms Golf Club hosted by the Gulf Shores Garden Club. The cost will be $23 per person and the deadline for registration is Oct. 13.
After the meeting was adjourned, members practiced flower arranging for the county fair. Refreshments and door prize were furnished by Claudette Wade, Mary Ann Lindsay and Judy Arbaczaukas.
The October meeting will be held on Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. at the Robertsdale Senior Center, and the program speaker will be Chet Beyer who will discuss honey bees. Guests are invited and may call 251-989-7341 for additional information about the organization.
