ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The Robertsdale Garden Club met on Tuesday, Jan. 12 and enjoyed a program presented by members.

Ken Ramey discussed the “Laura Bush rose bush” and sunflower; Charlotte Zinner discussed the white ginger lily; and Jimmie Lou Ramey discussed passion flower—locally known as the maypop.

Charlotte Zinner shared rhizomes of the white ginger lily with all members. Zinner was also winner of the door prize provided by Barbara Johnson.

New business included discussion of the possibility of awarding a scholarship. Members were encouraged to donate to this goal during the year. The formation of a Facebook page for the club was also discussed. Ramona Wagner will look into creating a Facebook page.

Several members are looking forward to attending the Gulf Shores program on Feb. 3.

Mary Ann Lindsay and Ann Brun will provide birthday cards and floral bud vases for residents at the Robertsdale Health Care Center celebrating January birthdays.

The next regular meeting will be held on Feb. 9. “Succulents” is the topic of the program which will be presented by Mary Ann Lindsay. Guests are welcome to attend all meetings which are held at 10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month at the G.P. Thames Senior Center in Robertsdale.
