ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The Robertsdale High Naval Jr. ROTC unit held its annual flag retirement Dec. 14. A total of 17 flags, which were either old or in bad shape, were retired during a special ceremony. The unit, which is under the command of Cmdr. Gary Watkins and Master Chief Bob Dairy, played host to approximately 75 spectators. The flag retirement ceremony is one of the most memorable that the unit performs. Area residents donated the majority of the flags that were used. To donate a flag just drop it off at Robertsdale High, as the more flags the unit has to retire the more effective the ceremony.
