Robertsdale honors veterans on Memorial Day

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama --- More than 100 people turned out to honor veterans on Memorial Day Monday at Gordon Coley Memorial Park in Robertsdale.

The U.S. Flag was raised to half-staff as Robertsdale Elementary School music director Susie Vivar played 'Taps' and the presentation of colors by the Robertsdale High School color guard.

Following the Pledge of Allegience, led by Ron Moore, Mayor Charles Murphy introduced guest speaker Dr. Sidney Phillips.

Veterans were then presented with Bibles by Murphy and Mayor Pro-Tem Joe Kitchens.

Receiving Bibles were Dr. Sidney Phillips, Henry C. Brady, Alto A. Brill, Paul M. Carroll Jr., Carl Dyal, Jerry Grimes, Tony R. Hammac, William D. Hobbs Jr., Henry S. Lockett, Benjamin T. Mills, George R. Moody, Charles H. Murphy, Wilson A. Oglesby, William P. Phillips, Edward T. Plouse, Max Stanley, Jerry J. Stastka, Wayne S. Stastka, Daniel R. Watson, Ray Weeks and James F. Werner.
