ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — A man and his younger sister have been arrested after police say they robbed La Azteca grocery store in Robertsdale at knife-point Sunday afternoon, April 17.
Lt. Rex Bishop, chief investigator with the Robertsdale Police Department said at around 4:25 p.m. on April 17 a suspect believed to be male is seen entering the store with his face covered.
“He proceeded to rob the store owner at knife point,” Bishop said. Meanwhile another suspect, believed to be female is seen entering the store, also with her face covered.
The two suspects left the store on foot with $880 in cash, according to the police report filed with the RPD.
“We had good footage from a surveillance video and pictures that we were able to send out to other police departments,” Bishop said.
Information received from the Foley Police Department led police to an address in Orange Beach on Tuesday, Bishop said, which led them back to an address on County Road 12 South of Foley.
Police went straight from Orange Beach to the address in Foley, where they found a juvenile female, who would confess to the robbery after questioning. She is being held in the Baldwin County Juvenile Detention Facility in Bay Minette.
The male suspect, identified as 20-year-old Christian Alfredo Castejon-zelaya, the older brother of the female suspect, turned himself in to the Foley Police Department on Wednesday and was picked up and questioned by RPD investigators.
After also confessing to the robbery, Bishop said, he was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Facility on April 20, charged with robbery, first degree. Police also believe the pair are in the country illegally. Castejon-zelaya is also being held without bond on immigration charges.
According to reports the money was recovered and will be returned to the store owner.
