ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — Robertsdale Police are investigating a threat made via social media regarding a “shootout” at Robertsdale High School Monday morning.
“The school administration is aware of this and we are following up on leads as we get them,” according to a post on the Robertsdale PD Facebook Page at just before 3 a.m. Monday morning. “We have no reason at this time to deem this threat credible, but we are taking it seriously and will take the necessary steps regarding security at the school.”
According to the post, several posts circulated that the Robertsdale Police Department was informing people not to go to school were simply untrue.
“Our position is that you make a decision based on the information available that you feel is best for you,” according to the post.
In an emailed statement issued just after 8 a.m. on Monday, Terry Wilhite, director of communications for the Baldwin County School System, said “Vague or not, law enforcement and school system officials take these threats very, very seriously and they’re actively investigating.”
If you have any information regarding the threats, contact the Robertsdale Police Department at 251-947-2222.
