ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — Juveniles are responsible for vandalizing the baseball field at Robertsdale High School Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, Dec. 29 and 30, according to a release issued Wednesday evening.
Early Wednesday afternoon, Lt. Anthony Dobson, investigator with the Robertsdale Police Department, said the incident was reported at around 8 a.m. Wednesday morning.
It appears, Dobson said, that one or more individuals drove onto the baseball field cutting multiple donuts into the field destroying the newly set grass on both the infield and the outfield.
According to a statement issued around 5 p.m. on the Robertsdale Police Department Facebook page, those responsible have been identified, but because of their ages, no names are being released.
“We would like to thank everyone that provided information. The information that we were provided with today from several citizens certainly helped in getting this handled in a timely manner.”
According to reports on Wednesday, the estimated damage to the field is valued at around $5,000.
