ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — Everything is back to normal following storms that hit the area on April 25, Public Works Director Scott Gilbert told members of the Robertsdale City Council at Monday night’s regular meeting.
An estimated $13,000 in damage was done to city property, including roof damage to one of the older concession stands at the ball park, Gilbert said.
The storm knocked out power to about 70 percent of the city’s residents, Gilbert said, but power was restored to most customers by Sunday evening.
“We had a couple of customers that told us they had generators, (allowing crews to work in areas that had more pressing needs),” he said. “If there was anyone else without power past Sunday, I don’t know about it.”
Gilbert said city crews worked practically around the clock on Saturday and most of the day on Sunday to get power restored. He also thanked members of the Robertsdale Volunteer Fire Department for providing meals and assistance to crews throughout the weekend.
“We’re back to normal, cutting grass and providing assistance wherever needed,” he said.
The Robertsdale Public Works Department can also provide assistance to residents who need help with tree removal.
“They have until May 15 to call us and we will be happy to help out,” he said.
Anyone within the Robertsdale Public Works service area in need of assistance can contact the Public Works Department at 947-8950.
