Robertsdale to offer free summer camps

ROBERTSDALE — Beginning next week, the City of Robertsdale will be providing a wide variety of free summer camps in conjunction with Robertsdale Elementary School and Robertsdale High School.

A boys’ football camp, featuring coaches from Robertsdale High School, will kick off the summer sports camp program, which will be throughout the month of June and into July, led mainly by coaches from Robertsdale High School. The camp will be from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday through Thursday on the practice field at RHS.

Beginning June 6 camps will be offered at Robertsdale Elementary School, beginning with an art camp featuring RES art teacher Gabrielle Games.

There will be two camps offered, each with a maximum of 30 students, an early camp for ages 6 to 8 from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and a mid-morning camp for ages 9 to 12 from 10 a.m. to noon.

A pair of sports camps will also be offered during the week.

A girls’ basketball camp led by Lady Bears basketball coach Justin Moore and boy’s coach Marshall Davis, will be from 9 a.m. to noon June 7-10 in the gym at Robertsdale Elementary School. The camp is open to girls from kindergarten and will also feature assistant coaches, along with current and former RHS players.

A boys’ and girls’ tennis camp with coaches James Fulkerson and Wayne Davis will be offered from 1 to 3 p.m. July 7-9 at the Robertsdale Tennis Complex on Silverhill Avenue.

A dance camp hosted by Mandy Moore, June 9-11 in the multi-purpose room at Robertsdale Elementary School. A pair of camps will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. for ages 4 to 8 and from 10 a.m. to noon for ages 9 to 12.

Additional camps include:

  • Girls’ softball camp for ages 13 and over with Coach Barry Roberts and staff, 9 a.m. to noon June 14-16 at the RHS softball complex.
  • Dance camp hosted by Mandy Moore, June 20-22 at the Slippers and Taps Dance Studio in the Greer’s Shopping Center. A camp for ages 4 to 7 will be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. and a camp for ages 8 to 11 will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Reading Extravaganza with Sandra Sawyer and Charlotte Odom, June 20-24, 9 a.m. to noon for ages 6 to 9 and from 1 to 4 p.m. for ages 10 to 12 at Robertsdale Elementary School. Class limited to 50 participants.
  • Defensive skills camp coaches and players from Robertsdale Youth Football, 5:30 to 8 p.m. June 21-22 at the RHS practice facility.
  • A Blast with Science & Math Camp with Sandra Sawyer and Charlotte Odom, June 27-July 1, 9 a.m. to noon for ages 6 to 9 and from 1 to 4 p.m. for ages 10 to 12 in the library at Robertsdale Elementary School. Class limited to 50 participants.
  • Boys’ baseball camp with Coach Peter Bezeredi and staff, 9 a.m. to noon June 28-30 at the RHS baseball field and indoor batting facility.
  • Boys’ basketball camp with coaches Marshall Davis and Justin Moore, 9 a.m. to noon, July 5-7 in the RES gym.
  • Girls’ cheerleader camp with Coach Tracy Robbins and the varsity cheerleaders, 9 a.m. to noon July 12-14 in the RES gym.
  • Boys’ and girls’ soccer camp with the RHS soccer staff, 4:30 to 7 p.m. July 12-14 at the RHS practice field.
  • Girls softball camp for ages 12 and under with Coach Barry Roberts and staff, 9 a.m. to noon July 12-14 at the RHS softball complex.
  • Offensive skills camp with coaches and players from the Robertsdale Youth Football League, 5:30 to 8 p.m. July 26-27 at the RHS practice field.
