ROBERTSDALE – Robertsdale volleyball coach Metta Roberts said her team needs to come together and play as a team in order to be successful this season.

“Right now we have a long way to go,” Roberts said. “There is no team unity.”

The Lady Golden Bears return six seniors in Kellen Shirley, Bailey Cincotta, Sheila Dailey, Deserai Bradley, Dienesha McKinney, and Tiesha McKinney.

Juniors Kayli Evans and Ebony Mitchell are also back.

“I think our season is going to be as good as how our players play,” Roberts said. “Our strength is that we have six returning starters.”

Dailey, Evans and Shirley were All-County selections last season and Roberts was named Co-Coach of the Year.

Robertsdale opened the season with a tri-match win over Baldwin County and T.R. Miller.

The Lady Golden Bears defeated Miller 25-11, 25-7 and beat BCHS 19-25, 25-23, 15-11.

Robertsdale plays at Spanish Fort on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
