Robin Brink, 59, of Fairhope, died peacefully Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, after a heroic fight against cancer.
He lived a wonderful, adventurous life sailing the world for over 20 years and working within various fields in the Maritime Industry. He was a skilled craftsman who fixed everything from gearboxes to plumbing, and motorbikes to electrical systems, in every port around the world.
Robin was a man who always followed his dreams, from building his sailboat Precious Mettle, to building a home when he choose to put anchor down. Robin was originally from Johannesburg, South Africa. He resided the past several years in Fairhope.
He is survived by his wife, Rivers Brink; father, Martin Brink (South Africa); brother, Kenneth Brink (Milwaukee); daughters, Susan Brink (Indonesia) and Mary Slavkin (New York); and loving stepchildren Ray French (Fairhope), Fleming French (Twentynine Palms, Calif.) and Matt French (Madrid, N.M.). He also leaves his many grandchildren and a multitude of dear friends around the world.
Friends and family will all fondly remember the many over-the-top gatherings organized by Robin, therefore in his honor a private celebration of his life will be held on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
