Rockwell student selected as Little Miss Honeybee

ROBERTSDALE, Ala. -- Rockwell Elementary School student Anna Kate O’Connor was crowned 2014 Little Miss Honeybee during ceremonies held Saturday, Sept. 27 in the multi-purpose room at Robertsdale Elementary.

First runner-up was Savannah Avery Grace, a student at Bay Minette Elementary; second runner up, Morganne Alaine Taylor, a student at Robertsdale Elementary; third runner-up, Melea Kelly Earls of Robertsdale; and fourth runner-up Lena Spears of Robertsdale. Rockwell student Alexis Dawn Romanstine was Miss Congeniality and Robertsdale Elementary student Alison Paige McDaniel was Most Photogenic.

School art winners for the pageant were Peyton Salvaggio, first place; Morgan Kroll and Isabella Cosby, second place; and Matalyn Kroll, third place.

A total of 24 contestants in third through fifth grades from throughout Baldwin County competed in the second annual pageant. Proceeds from the event will benefit the area school.

Little Miss Honeybee and her court will be represented at the annual Honeybee Festival which will be held Saturday in Robertsdale. They will also be featured during Robertsdale’s Christmas Parade in December, along with other civic duties.

“The pageant was a huge success,” said director Stephanie Kroll, who started the pageant in 2013. “All the girls that compete are amazing and all winners. They walk away with the pride of accomplishing a goal of participating and competing.”

Kroll said she wanted to give a special thank you to Robertsdale Elementary School and Principal Faye Sheppard for hosting and to the RES PTO for funding the event.

2014 Little Miss Honeybee contestants included Emma Kate Langham, Madison Brooke Berga, Leah Carter, Aleah Guasca, Alison Paige McDaniel, Breanna Keeton Harris, Lena Spears, Gabriell Aliana Blanchard, Aevryn Marie McAlister, Melea Kelly Earls, Kaelyn Sally Beauchene, Alexis Dawn Stanfield, Morganne Alaine Taylor, Olivia Kate Maxwell, Isabella Jayne Cosby, Sunny Blackwood, Alexis Dawn Romanstine, Tommie-Lynn Isabella Smith, Haley Marie Jasperson, Alexis Lynn Copeland, Annalie Suzanne Persinger, Anna Kate O’Connor, Adelaide Jensen Wallace and Brittany Marie Painter.

A door prize was donated by The Pink Anchor in Silverhill. Entertainment was provided by Driven Dance Co., and Calvin Parnell sang the girls a song.
