The Jennifer Claire Moore 2007 Rodeo was a success, thanks to strong audience attendance and support from personal corporate contributions, according to a spokesperson.
Frances and Carl Jones, organizers, said the event — held during the late summer in Foley — has shown continued growth each year, with more and more sponsors’ support of the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation. The foundation offers funding to all Baldwin County schools to provide training such as the Peer Helper Program.
Through this initiative, students participate in an accredited course as part of the state’s curriculum, in which life lessons are taught. Pressures of being a teenager include divorce, weight issues, family sickness, death of a classmate and depression. The program discusses these issues and trains students on how to listen to and help advise classmates who may struggle with such problems.
Five schools have the program in place; others are implementing it.
