Roland Eugene Blais, 50, born in Mobile and a resident of Daphne, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.
Roland was a retired Merchant Marine seaman, and was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, a Third-Degree Knights of Columbus member and member of the Thursday 6 a.m. Cursillo group in Daphne.
He enjoyed making rosaries and gave them to his family and many parishioners at Christ the King.
Roland was preceded in death by his parents, George H. Sr. and Marie Louise Blais.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Blais; son, David (Meena) Outlaw of Sugar Land, Texas; daughters, Linor (William) Thomas of Quitman, Ark. and Amanda Outlaw of Daphne; brother, George H. (Sharon) Blais Jr. of Bay Minette; and his sister, Penny Blais of Knoxville, Tenn. He also has seven grandchildren, James Edward, Kathryn Elizabeth, Kristina Elise, Jasmine, Miles, Gracie and Jamie.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014 at Christ the King Catholic Church.
The celebrant was the Rev. James Carlsen, con-celebrants were the Rev. Matthew J. O’Connor and Msgr. Timothy Deasy. Deacons of the mass were Walt Crimmins, Bill Robinson and Malcolm Zellner.
Pallbearers were James Odom, George Huth, Willie Palacio, Joe Howard, Bernie Scott, Charles Badalamenti and Jerry Allain.
Interment was in Belforest Catholic Cemetery.
