Ron Pugh

Ron Pugh, 70, died peacefully at his home in Orange Beach on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013.

Ron was born in Macon, Ga. to Odelle Thomas Pugh and Benjamin Frank Pugh.

The family later moved to Birmingham, where Mr. Pugh attended Woodlawn High School. He graduated from the University of Alabama and received a graduate degree from AUM.

He went on to serve his country as an Air Force pilot in the Vietnam War.

Mr. Pugh worked in real estate for a number of years in Selma before going with the state as a public health environmentalist, then emergency preparedness with the state.

After retiring in 2004, he moved to Orange Beach with his wife, Connie.

Mr. Pugh was preceded in death by his parents, Odelle and Frank Pugh.

He leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Connie Eastep Pugh; three children, Tara Pugh (Jim) Dally, Ashley Pugh (Dale) Knox and Jonathan Brett Pugh; four grandchildren, Joshua Dally, Nathan Dally, Bryce Knox and Laney Reese Knox; brother-in-law, David W. Eastep of Selma; and a loving and devoted aunt, Robbie Green of Montevallo; and close friends of the family, Kay and Claudia Stephens.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at 11:30 a.m., from the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort, with Dr. Norman H. McCrummen officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.
