Ronald Gilbert “Butch” Carl Sr., 68, a native of Mobile and a resident of Bay Minette, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011 peacefully at his residence.
He retired as a tugboat captain for Warrior and Gulf Navigation.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald G. Carl Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Mary Joyce Carl of Bay Minette; eight children, Denise (Gene) Ellison of Theodore, Mary (Steve) Hicks of Perdido, Rochelle (Jeff) Ball of Leaksville, Miss., Jammie (Tuff) Snow of Bay Minette, Ernie (Jessica) Brown of Perdido, Allen (Jessie) Brown of Bay Minette, Brent Carl and Bret Carl, both of Bay Minette; three sisters, Shirley (Charles) Brown of Daphne, Marlyin (John) Rhodes off Skipperville and Lena (Danny) Freeman of Dothan; brother, Anthony (Rebecca) Dimarco of Ponchatoula, La.; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24 at Norris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m . Friday, Feb. 25 from the funeral home chapel with Helen Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Satsuma Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Steve Hicks, Jeremy Boyter, Allen Brown, Ernie Brown, Christopher Ellison, Gene Ellison, Bret Carl and Tuff Weaver.
