Ronald “Ronnie” Hill, 69, of Rabun, died, Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Hill was a machinist (retired) for Brookley Air Force Base followed by Teledyne Continental Motors. He retired from Teledyne in 1990. He served in the U.S. National Guard from 1958 to 1959 and the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1962. He also served as an Alabama Deputy State Game Warden.
He was the son of the late Harvey Leon Hill of Harrisburg, Pa. and the late Norma Haley of Pensacola, Fla. He grew up in Mobile, Ala., with his grandparents the late Lionel and Ercell Wallace.
He is survived by his wife, Janet I. Hill; two sons, Ron (Becky) Hughes, U.S. Army; Bobby (Ivy) Hill; one daughter, Paula Hill (Sandy) Sanspree; 15 grandchildren, Brandon (Amanda) U.S Marine, Todd (Elizabeth) Hughes, U.S. Army, Veronica Hughes, Lee (Mary Margaret) Hughes, U.S. Army, SyAnn Hughes, Cailey Hughes, Colleen Hughes, Conner Hill, Corbin Hill, Karsyn Hill, Cameron Hill, Brannon (Breanna) Sanspree, Tyler Sanspree, Jessica Sanspree and Tanner Sanspree; five great-grandchildren, Carter Hughes, Ryleigh Hughes, Eli Hughes, Bella Sanspree and Caden Sanspree and many other extended family and friends.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011 at 4 p.m., at the New Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Henry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at New Providence Baptist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at the church from 2 p.m. until the start of the service.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Hill, Joe Digerolamo, J.R. Joiner, Conner Hill, Tyler Sanspree and Bruce Warren. Alternate pallbearer will be Gene Milstead.
