Richard Lee Roper, 55, of Foley, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007.
He was a graduate of McGill Institute High School in Mobile and the University of South Alabama. He was a member of Sigma Chi and was the University’s Inter Fraternal President his senior year.
He was in insurance for 20 years and was past president of the Mobile Area Life Underwriters Association and past Underwriter of the Year.
He spent many years coaching area youth in football and baseball. He was a member of St. Margaret’s Queen of Scotland Catholic Church in Foley.
Survivors include two daughters, Marlee C. Roper of Mobile and Mallory Roper of Mobile; son, Richard Lee Roper Jr. of Mobile; his mother, Bettye (Creighton) J. Cockrell of Foley; sister, Vicky L. Roper of Gulf Shores; step-sister, Gail Graham of Bevens, TExas; step-brorther, Steve A. Cockrell of Millington, Tenn.
Mass of Christiam Burial was celebrated Monday, Dec. 31 at St. Margaret’s Queen of Scotland Catholic Church in Foley with the Rev. Paul G. Zogby S.T.L., officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park.
