Rose Beveridge Smith, 89, of Bay Minette passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013.
Rose curated Bay Minette’s Public Library from 1974 to 1994, and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Her hands were never idle, unless she had a good book. Many people have been blessed with a baby blanket, prayer shawl or scarf hand-knit or crocheted by this Greatest of Grans.
She is survived by her four children, Airey (Michael) Nix of Peachtree City, Ga., Hamilton (Wendy) Smith, of Bay Minette, Rose Anne (George) Tisdale of Birmingham and Bruce (Patti) Smith of Shalimar, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Emily Nix (Michael) Ivey, Elizabeth Nix McCloud, George Brandon Tisdale, Hamilton Beveridge Smith, William Bruce Tisdale, Maggie Dansby Smith, Sarah Rose Tisdale, Katherine Anne Tisdale and Hunter Anderson Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Eleanor Airey Ivey and Jayden Alexander George Tisdale.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Bruce Beveridge; her mother, Rose Waller Beveridge; and her brother, Lt. Bruce Beveridge.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, George Brandon Tisdale, Hamilton Beveridge Smith, William Bruce Tisdale and Hunter Anderson Smith.
Graveside services and burial will be held Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at 4 p.m., at Bay Minette Cemetery, with the Rev. Ed Deabler officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, from 4 until 6 p.m., at her residence, located at 10055 Bruce Beveridge Road, Bay Minette.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 338, Bay Minette, AL 36507.
