Rose Trail dedicated to former long-time city employee

FOLEY, Ala. - Foley's Antique Rose Trail was dedicated in the name of Perry Wilbourne, former city administrator, on Thursday at Heritage Park.

Wilbourne and local volunteer Bill Goodwin had the idea of planting roses into the city's landscape to bring residents back to the city's old Railroad Depot Museum.

Many employees and officials in Foley and representatives of the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce attended the dedication and there will be a bronze plaque displayed at the trail to honor the years Wilbourne served and worked for the city.

There are plans to expand and build upon the trail with a rock stream and butterfly garden. Once the expansion is complete, the trail will be over one mile long and will include over 500 plants.

The Foley City Council also honored Wilbourne at the April 4 council meeting for his birthday.

"He served the city for almost 20 years as city administrator," Mayor John Koniar said.
