Ross William Caldwell, age 89, beloved by family and friends, left this earth on Sept. 2, 2012, in Prescott, Ariz., after a long illness.
Mr. Caldwell was originally from Warsaw, N.Y. and was a resident of Fairhope from 1978 to 2004. He was a member of the Fairhope United Methodist Church. Ross was born April 17, 1923, in Medina, New York, son of the late Franklin and Nellie Caldwell. On June 26, 1944, Ross married the love of his life, Alberta Rowcliffe Caldwell in Madison, Wisconsin. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II and was stationed in Italy during the last year of the war. He will always be remembered as a fun-loving, intelligent, supportive, faith-filled, kind and loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Alberta; his sons, Craig (Lynn) Caldwell of Prescott, Ariz., and Bruce (Joanne) Caldwell of Warsaw, N.Y.; his sister, Ruth Blackstock of Cleveland, Ohio; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Ben Caldwell, Carl Caldwell, and Richard Caldwell. A memorial service will be conducted in Warsaw, N.Y., on Oct. 20, 2012, and his ashes will be interred in Warsaw Cemetery.
