Ruby Phillips Giles, 86, a native and resident of Robertsdale, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012. Mrs. Giles gave her life to the ministry of Christ through co-pastoring with her late husband, the Rev. James Oliver Giles, and was a church pianist for many years.
She was a long-time member of the Robertsdale Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. James Oliver Giles, and son, Tommy W. Giles. She was survived by two daughters, Thressa (Baxter) Wood of Athen, Ga., Lynette Giles of Robertsdale; four sons, Oliver D. “Buddy” (Norma) Giles of Summerdale, Derial (Elaine Hadley) Giles of Loxley, Phillip W. (Mary Ann) Giles of Silverhill, and Robert A. “Bobby” Giles of Robertsdale; two sisters, Mary Peavy of Robertsdale, and Lavida Giles of Elsanor; one brother, W. P. “Bill” Phillips of Robertsdale; 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Robertsdale Assembly of God with the Rev. Michael Lynn, the Rev. Jimmy Robinson and the Rev. Andy Peavy officiating. Burial will be in the Baldwin Memorial Cemetery, Robertsdale.
A visitation will be Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mack Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Robertsdale Assembly of God, P.O. Box 914, Robertsdale, AL 36567.
