Ruth Underwood, 67, a resident of Summerdale, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Victor Underwood of Summerdale; daughter, Laura (John) Bodenmann of Summerdale; two sons, Will (Angela) Underwood of Magnolia Springs and Shane (Anna) Underwood of Tuscaloosa; five sisters, Sybil Merig of Mobile, Sylvia (Gay) Lake of Tuscaloosa, Patricia Sherman of Summerdale, Sarah (Robin) Parkhouse of Orlando, Fla. and Susan (Barry) Leibert of Mobile; and five grandchildren.
She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who spent her retirement years taking care of three grandchildren.
She led a life of service, ranging from work with Marlow United Methodist Church and the Sonora 4-H Club, to her terms as a Baldwin County School Board member and a 26-year career as a nutritionist and administrator with the Alabama Department of Public Health.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014, at 11 a.m., at Robertsdale First Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 10.

Box 430, Summerdale, AL 36580, or to the Ruth Sherman Underwood Memorial Scholarship Fund, made payable to the South Baldwin Education Foundation, P.O. Box 1600, Foley, AL 36536.
