Heather Lynn Ryan and Stephen Neal Thompson were united in marriage Dec. 19, 2009 at First Assembly of God Church in Robertsdale.

The Rev. Michael Lynn officiated at the double ring ceremony.

The couple chose a vintage wedding theme instead of the traditional wedding ceremony. Vintage weddings date back to the 1970s era when leisure suits and lace gowns were stylish.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Barry Ryan of Elsanor. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.K. Peckham of Robertsdale and Mr. and Mrs. John Ryan of Elsanor.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Thompson of Robertsdale. Grandparents are Elizabeth Marler and Charles Daniels from Foley and the late Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Andrews.

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a fitted tea length wedding gown of ivory lace. Folded lace tears extended from the lengthy waistline of the gown to the floor. The bride carried a bouquet of cream colored roses and white babies breath tied with sheer ribbon. Sprigs of babies breath tucked in the bride’s hair replaced a veil.

Sarah Chrisenall of Troy served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Christina Stewart of Columbus, Miss., and Hannah Ryan of Montevallo, sisters of the bride; Melinda Peckham of Mobile, cousin of the bride; and Lindsey Dyess.

The bridesmaids wore burgundy tea length sheer dresses complimented by “V” shaped necklines and matching sashes. The attendants carried bouquets of cream colored carnations and roses.

Prior to the wedding nuptials pianist Connie McHenry, accompanied by Chelsea Sims on the violin played a rendition of wedding songs.

Joshua Johnson served as best man. Groomsmen were Ian Rupp, Josh Meeker, Marshall Meeker, Ben Simmons and P.J. Abkison.

Sean and Noah Ryan, brothers of the bride, served as ushers.

A reception at the ALFA building in Robertsdale followed the ceremony.

Large pink mums and candles decorated the tables with small boxes of chocolate homemade candy balls for favors. Instead of a large wedding cake, a friend of the family baked red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and chocolate cupcakes with praline frosting that were arranged in a three-tiered holder. A large bouquet of calla lilies and candles brightened the dessert table. The groom’s cake was an Italian Cream cake made by his grandmother.

After a wedding trip to St. Augustine, Fla., the couple reside in Columbus, Miss.
