BAY MINETTE, Ala.—The Faulkner State Sun Chiefs tried to come back several times Monday evening against visiting L.B. Wallace but could never complete the mission. The FSCC men fell 101-86 before a big homecoming crowd at Robertson Arena in Bay Minette.
The Sun Chiefs battled back from double-digit differences three times in the game but could only get to within two points each time. The loss dropped Coach Jack Robertson's Chiefs to 14-10 overall and 5-3 in Southern Division action.
They return to action Thursday with a trip to Brewton to play Jeff Davis. FSCC is back home Monday taking on Alabama Southern at 7 p.m. at Robertson Arena.
Six Sun Chiefs scored in double digits with Rafael Adams and Deshun Tucker leading the way with 15 points apiece. Xavier Dortch and A.J. Roulhac added 14 points each while Reagan Eubanks scored 13 and Chris Joyner had ten. Logan Adams scored three and Tyrone Finklea had two to round out the Chief's scoring totals. Troyce Manassa led the visitors with a game high 33 and he got plenty of help from Malcolm Snyder, who added 24 for the winners.
Eubanks had nine rebounds to pace Faulkner on the backboards while Tucker had four steals and Dortch five assists. Three pointers from Dortch and Eubanks staked FSCC out to a quick 10-4 advantage but eight-straight points from the Saints erased the Faulkner lead.
Eight consecutive points from Manassa helped LB Wallace out to a 27-18 lead but three from Roulhac and Eubanks and two inside baskets from Tucker trimmed the lead down to three at 36-33.
Faulkner got to within two at 40-38 but Wallace went on a 11-4 run to close the half and take a 51-42 lead at intermission. Another Dortch three and a Joyner rebound putback got Faulkner to within two again at 60-58 but again an LBW run of 9-3 got them some breathing room.
A Logan Adams bucket from down low with 10:44 left again cut the advantage to two at 69-67. LB Wallace then caught fire and stretched the lead 92-77. The final moments were all LBW and they eventually won by 15.
