Sam Brumfield, 87, native of Magnolia, Miss., and resident of Silverhill, died Thursday, April 12, 2012.

Sam was a U.S. Army veteran, where he was a proud paratrooper during WW II. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Robertsdale and was a knowledgeable fisherman that will be missed by all who knew him.

Sam was preceded in death by a son, Virgil J. Brumfield, and his parents, Virgil and Janie Brumfield, and four siblings. Sam is survived by his wife of 68 years, Yarmilla M. Brumfield, Silverhill; daughter, Diana (David) Ardis, Hendersonville, N.C.; son, Cecil L. Brumfield, West Palm Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Ladd S. Moravek, Denver, Colo.,  Brian L. Brumfield, Los Angeles, Justin S. Brumfield, Charleston, S.C., Bailey Brumfield, West Palm Beach, Fla.; and a host of other loving relatives and many friends.

 The family will receive friends Monday, April 16, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. Funeral services will be Tuesday, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Robertsdale.

 Mr. Brumfield will lie-in-state at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Silverhill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Robertsdale Building Fund.
