Samuel “Sammy” Burbage Gilreath Jr., 89, died on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010 at his residence.
He was a World War II veteran and a longtime resident of Mobile. After retiring from the Corps of Engineers he moved to Fairhope.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Santa Cruz Gilreath; two sons, Richard Samuel Gilreath and Gary Lee Gilreath.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Minto Gilreath of Fairhope; daughter, Julie Gilreath Wolfe of Fairhope; three sons, Steve (Diane) Gilreath of Daphne, Larry (Beth) Gilreath of Fairhope, and Robby (Lori) Gilreath of Nolensville, Tenn.; daughter-in-law, Elaine Gilreath of Malbis; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, four step-sons, one step-daughter, nine step-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. with A Memorial Mass at noon Saturday, Dec. 11 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Fairhope. Private interment will be helde at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the St. Lawrence Catholic Church Building Fund.
