Sandra Marie Russell Byrd, 56, a native of Bay Minette and a resident of Stapleton, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011 peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family, after an extended illness.
She retired from the State of Alabama after 28 years.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Charles “Billy Dean” Byrd of Stapleton; son, Howard (Connie) Byrd of Mobile; daughter, Michelle Byrd (Pete) Overstreet of Jackson; mother, Marie Russell of Bay Minette; three sisters, Joanne Keaton and Carol Heathcock, both of Bay Minette, and Randi Maldonado of Corpus Christi, Texas; five brothers, Andy Russell, Terry Russell, Billy Jo Russell and Dennis Russell, all of Bay Minette, and Tim Russell of Atmore; and four grandchildren, Miley, Ariel, Ciera and Madison.
Visitation begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1 at Stapleton Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2 at the church. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Stapleton.
