Sandra Roberts passed away at the age of 85 in Dallas, Texas on Dec. 11, 2021, and joined her beloved husband James H. “Jim” Roberts 10 days short of 10 years after his passing. Sandra was born Aug. 2, 1936, in Greenville, Mississippi and was also preceded in death by her parents, Esta “Muz” and Dr. Bernard Samuel “Doc” Schwartz.  She is survived by her children David L. Roberts (Kristal), Jennifer S. Moortgat (James) and Hilary A. Roberts of Dallas, Texas, and Michael J. Roberts of St. Louis, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Katie, Samantha, Danielle, Jessica and Andrew Roberts, Camryn and Caden Moortgat; and Sandra's brother, Richard Schwartz (Sally) of Gulf Shores.

Sandra graduated from Greenville High School in 1954, but not before she wrote the school’s spirit song. She met Jim on a blind date and the two were married in 1957. They moved to Springfield, Illinois where they lived for 35 years before retiring in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Sandy cherished her life in Springfield and Gulf Shores. Her Jewish faith was evident in the way she lived her life, as she always made her home feel like home to everyone. She enjoyed duplicate bridge and earned Life Master status playing in tournaments with Jim and their many friends. She was a real estate agent for 17 years and was active in the Junior League.  Her love of music, her talents and her spirited personality were always apparent, and even more so in the Junior League Follies when she brought down the house with solo performances of Broadway show tunes. Her enormous heart, strength of spirit, sharp wit and beautiful smile will be missed by all.

Family and friends are encouraged to attend a virtual Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. CST, Feb. 8, 2022, via Zoom. Separately, on Mar. 14, 2022, the 65th anniversary of their marriage, Sandy and Jim will be interred together at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery and presented with military honors for Jim’s service in the Navy.
