FOLEY - The South Baldwin Chamber celebrated a fun new addition to the Foley Business Community. Hobby Town is now open at 225 W. 9th Ave. A ribbon cutting celebration was held to welcome the new toy store and attendees were treated with demonstrations of remote cars and drones.

Hobby Town is a national brand toy and hobby store, stocked with traditional and educational toys and supplies for some popular hobbies such as remote-control cars, drones, model cars and kites. They feature an immense selection of model train supplies, rockets, puzzles, classic and new games and role-playing games. They also have an extensive selection of learning and developmental toys such as robotic kits, science experiments, telescopes, and microscopes, perfect for educators. “Most people are surprised with our toy selection, you can find many toys from your childhood at Hobby Town such as Etch-n-Sketch, Rubik’s Cube, Spirographs and classic board games like Clue,” said General Manager Angela Lowe.

For owner Sheldon Schlieper, owning a Hobby Town stems from a lifelong passion. He is an avid fan of the hobbies he now sells and has even been an R/C pilot for five years. After having to drive a long distance or search online, Sheldon decided it was time for Foley to have a hobby store close to home. Ownership is in his blood; his grandfather owned a store in Foley many years ago. “My favorite part of Hobby Town is that there is something for everyone, from the avid hobbyist who has been flying a plane for years to the young family that would like a puzzle or game for Friday night. We are here to make free time awesome,” says Sheldon and his team.

For the Holiday Season Hobby Town has started a layaway program. In addition, they will be offering coupons for the entire month of Nov.: $5-$50 off purchases. Hobby Town is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. They are located at 225 W. 9th Ave. or you can visit them online at www.hobbytown.com.
