GULF SHORES, Ala. — There’s less “Hamlet” and more poker during weekly meetings of the Shakespeare Study Club as the four men at right, Nick Lawson (Jan Hinnen); Sheriff Butler (Mike Strong); William Garrett (Robert Flack) and Ira Pickens (Tommy Bear) forge deep bonds of friendship in the play, “All Through the House.”
Combine the pseudo-Shakespeare club with a domineering mother-in-law, petulant daughter and gossipy wife and you have the makings of the newest show at South Baldwin Community Theatre.
Set in a small town during the Christmas season of 1872, “All Through the House,” by William Gleason, is part “Gift of the Magi,” part “Christmas Carol,” and all comedy.
Other cast members include Sharon Watson, Glennellen Anderson, Mel Middlebrooks, Ryan Williams, Sherri Killam-Williams, Dixie Overby and A.J. Benintende.
Joyce James is the show’s director and Margaret Cooper is assistant director.
Season ticket holders may start calling for reservations now, and general ticket sales begin Monday, Nov. 23.
The play will be performed Dec. 4, 5, 11 and 12 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 6 and 13 at 2 p.m.Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.
