John A. Schmitz, 81, a native of Dayton, Ohio, and a resident of Lillian, died Thursday, April 2, 2009.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where he was a lector. He was a past board member of Spanish Cove Property Owners Association. He worked at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, for 23 years.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Schmitz of Lillian; three daughters, Pamela (Robert) Long of Hamilton, Ohio, Penney (Robert) Wimsatt of Centerville, Ohio, and Patricia (Michael) Melick of Lebanon, Ohio; son, Peter (Susan) Schmitz of Jackson, Mich.; step-daughter, Karen (Dale) Doggett of Miamisburg, Ohio; sister, Jayne (Tom) Kalt of Springboro, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation begins at 9 a.m. with the Rosary at 9:40 a.m., and funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday, April 6 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Lillian. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.
