Alma Fricer Schmitz, 87, a native of Silverhill and a resident of Robertsdale, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007.
She attended Robertsdale School all 12 grades, married and moved to and worked in Chicago during World War II. Later while visiting her sister in 1971, was homesick and moved back to Robertsdale. She was a member of the Robertsdale and Foley Senior Centers and enjoyed playing bingo and ballroom dancing.
Survivors include four daughters, Terry Hurick of Billings, Mont., Cynthia Ann Brown of San Diego, Penny Marks of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Denise Rose Schiefer of San Diego; three sons, Robert Bruce Schmitz, Gregory John Schmitz and Grant Joseph Schmitz, all of San Diego; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Robertsdale with Father William James officiating.
Arrangements are by Mack Funeral Home and Crematory, Robertsdale.
