William Albert Schoppenhorst Jr., born March 10, 1931 in Higginsville, Mo., died on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008 at a local hospital.

He was a graduate of the University of Missouri wnd received a Masters Degree from Columbia University.

He was an accomplished organist and loved music. He was an active member of the American Guild of Organist. He traveled extensively world round to play pipe organs.

He was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. After being honorably discharged he served eight years in the reserves obtaining the rank of captain.

He was Human Resource Director for Nordson Corp., Oberlin, Ohio, and Rogers Corp., Storrs, Conn., retiring in 1992. He was also employed by Westvaco & Northwest Paper Co, West Virginia and Minnesota

He is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Marjorie Rodenberg Schoppenhorst.

Survivors include a sister, Sara M. Schoppenhorst of Willoughby, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12 at St. James Episcopal Church, Fairhope. Interment follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.

The family requests memorial donations be made to St. James Organ Fund, St. James Episcopal Church, 860 North Section St., Fairhope, AL. 36532.
