Samuel Winton Schriner, born Jan. 25, 1922 in Lodi, Wis., a resident of Fairhope, died Monday, March 15, 2010.
He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a navigator in World WarII. During this time he married Vanna “Vannie” and their family grew to include three children, Winton Schriner of Roswell, Ga.; Lyn (Mark) Pease of Seattle; and Lorna (Michael) Huey of Daphne.
He worked as an advertising executive before retiring and moving to Fairhope.
His life was further enriched when he met and married Sarah Thayer who brought three sons to the marriage, Jim (Karen) Thayer of Atlanta, Steve (Angie) Thayer of Augusta, Ga., and David Thayer.
His intelligence, love, and humor will always be remembered by his family. He began and ended his life surrounded by love. He considered himself a lucky man but, in truth, it is all who knew him who were the lucky ones.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vanna “Vannie”Schriner; and David Thayer.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Thayer Schriner, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 20 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
