Betty Jean Schulte, 70, a resident of Fairhope for 22 years, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008 in Fairhope.
She was born in Vinegar Bend and graduated from Leakesville High School, Leakesville, Miss.
She was the widow of slain Corp. Julius N. Schulte, a detective with the Mobile Police Department, where she was employed. She retired as a clerk from the Weeks Bay Estuary and National Reserve.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Survivors include a daughter, Dawn (Michael) Bryars of Bay Minette; son, Michael N. Schulte of Fairhope; sister, Ruth Presley of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers, R.C. Lewis of Leakesville, Miss., and Bill Lewis of Chatom; and five grandchildren, Nora, Richard, Michael, Anne and Hannah.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family requests memorial donations be made to Weeks Bay Estuary and National Reserve Children’s Programs, 11300 U.S. Highway 98, Fairhope, AL 36532.
