Robert G. Schultz Sr., born Jan. 15, 1915 in Wooster, Ohio, a resident of Foley, died Sept. 5, 2007.
He graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy and Ohio Northern University and served in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Swan in the Pacific.
He and his wife Betty celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on July 23.
They were active in both St. Paul’s Episcopal in Medina, Ohio, and Foley.
He excelled in many sports, but was known locally as an amazing golfer, shooting his age before his 65th birthday. He was known as a gentleman with impeccable manners seldom displaying anger. He always had a twinkle in his eye and was a positive influence on many golfers, young and old. He continued to be a low handicapper into his 92nd year.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Drew and Margaret Schultz of Wooster, and a son, Robert (Lucy) Schultz of Medina.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Schultz; two sons, Andrew (Linda) Schultz; and James (Nancy) Schultz; grandchildren, the Rev. Alison (Todd Broadbridge) Schultz, Lesley (Mike) Weiman, Andrew H. Schultz, Jason (Donna) Schultz, Adam Schultz, Melissa (Barry) Bennett, Margaret (Will) Callard and Robert Schultz; great-grandchildren, Edwin, Francis, Anastasia, Mischa, Harrison, Erica, James, Ilah, Elizabeth, Jackson, Collier, Madison, Courtney and Ella.
Services were held Saturday, Aug. 8 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
The family requests memorial donations be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Foley or Medina.
