Scott Podstata passed away Friday, July 13, 2012 at the age of 51, in Woodstock Ga., after a courageous three-year battle with Langerhans cell Histiocytosis, a rare blood disease.

Scott was born October 2, 1960 in Chico Calif., to Harvey and Judy Podstata. His family moved to Santa Rosa when Scott was very young. He attended Matanzas Elementary, Slater Jr. High and graduated from Montgomery High School in 1979. Shortly after high school graduation, Scott enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and was stationed in Mobile where he eventually met his wife, Eva. Scott was honorably discharged after four years and went into law enforcement where he served the State of Alabama as a policeman for 10 years. Scott left the public sector and into the private sector where he worked as an Area Manager in the Security Department for WalMart. Scott worked at WalMart until he went on disability from his illness. Scott is survived by his wife of 26 years, Eva; three daughters, Rebecca, Sarah and Olivia. His parents Harvey and Judy Podstata; sister Jane (Jeff), nephews Brett, Christopher,Andrew Codding, brother Brett (Julie), nieces Paige and Rachel. Scott is preceded in death by his grandmother, Buelah Podstata. He is also survived by other relatives in Sonoma County and many more from Alabama. As many of you remember, Scott enjoyed having a good time, whether it be camping, boating, motorcycling, hunting, four-wheeling or watching sports. Scott was also very active in his church. But what he loved most was spending time with his wife and kids. He was extremely proud of his children. Scott was pleased to know a Celebration of Life gathering is planned for 2 p.m. ,Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Water Marke Church, 2126 Sixes Road, Canton, Ga., 30114. Following the service the celebration will continue at Wellesley Club House where the Patriot Guard will escort. Interment will be Monday, July 23, at 2:30 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery with Military Honors. He requested this gathering to be a happy time for all who attend.
