DAPHNE, Ala.—Assistant Cubmaster Chuck Bartle was honored with the God and Service Award for his work in scouting during the Scout Sunday Service Feb. 8 at Daphne United Methodist Church.
The service was packed with blue and khaki uniforms as Scouts and leaders participated in the occasion, which began with a chorus of Cub Scouts singing “Rise and Shine.” Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts presented the American, church, Boy Scout Troop 82 and Cub Scout Pack 271 flags, and led the congregation in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Ben Spencer, church Scout representative, introduced the Scouts and leaders; Tiger Cub Scout Nick Taylor led the pack in the Cub Scout Promise. Life Scout Jeff Boudreau led Eagle Scouts in the Boy Scout Oath.
A quartet of leaders—Steve Day, Scott Spradlin, Lisa Evans and Joy McClay—sang “On My Honor.”
Elizabeth Graham, den leader, gave the offering prayer; the offering was received by Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and adult leaders.
The Scout Sunday Service occurs each year on the second Sunday of February. The event introduces the Scout family to the church, which shows appreciation to Scouts and adult leaders.
The Scouting Ministry of Daphne United Methodist Church may add a ship of Sea Scouts; anyone interested may contact Steve Day at 626-2287.
