Fans of the world’s most popular word game put on your thinking caps. It’s time to play.

Page & Palette, 32 S. Section St. in Fairhope, will host a Scrabble tournament, Saturday, Aug. 18, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

The event will support the work of the First Book Local Advisory Board of South Alabama. All proceeds will make it possible for at-risk children to receive age-appropriate books.

The tournament will be structured so that teams — families, organizations, clubs and friends — can play as a unit. Each game will begin with the same word with each team having 20 minutes to make as many words as possible with all the tiles needed to do so.

The cost is $5 per person per game with a maximum of $20 per team each game.

Teams may play as many games as they please.

The winning team will be announced at the end of the tournament.
