DAPHNE, Ala.—Teenagers who love to watch and talk about movies will have a first-class opportunity to indulge in their favorite pastime when the 2009 Summer Lyceum hosted by SEEDS (Supporting Educational Enrichment in Daphne’s Schools) presents “Film as Art” during June 1-4.
The 10-hour course will be held in four afternoon sessions at Daphne High School’s Trojan Hall and is open to all eighth- to 12th-graders in Baldwin County.
Mary Riser, founder and director of the long-running Fairhope Film Series, will feature quality films and lead daily discussions designed to broaden students’ knowledge and appreciation of the art of movie-making. Time for reflection and creative expression will round out each session including activities led by Sherry Bittinger, award-winning art teacher at Daphne Middle School.
SEEDS’ Summer Lyceum brochure is available for download at www.seedsindaphne.org and includes a course registration form and a listing of other unique summer learning opportunities for all age groups.
Tuition for “Film as Art” is $50 and class hours are 2:30 to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Registration forms should be mailed with tuition checks to SEEDS, P. O. Box 460, Daphne, AL 36526.
Seating is limited and applications are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
