BAY MINETTE, Ala. — On July 1, the monthly Bay Minette Area Senior Citizens Organization meeting was held to give all seniors an opportunity to talk about what new and different things need to be a part of the senior activities.
There are so many things that the Senior Center could offer if there is enough interest. We need more seniors to be a part of the planning.
It was a short week due to the Fourth of July holiday; however, several still met in the afternoon to play games and yes shared cappuccino and treats. It was an afternoon of sharing a new game, playing games we hadn’t played in a long time with friends, then off to watch the fireworks. What a beautiful display. Hope you had a special day with family and friends enjoying a cookout, homemade ice cream and watermelon.
At the Senior Center it was busy all of the week of July 7. Flip/Flop Book Club meeting, exercise Monday and Wednesday, and Down Home Alabama Pot Luck on Wednesday. More about that next week.
But today is game day (starts at 2 p.m.) Come and share a game with us. Dominoes still reigns as the game of the day; however, when it’s all over, there are other games played, if you are game!
Exercise at the Senior Center is cool. I’d like to see if you can exercise for an hour with Erma. Every Monday and Wednesday at 3 p.m.
Bridge players will be back on schedule at 1 p.m. tomorrow (every Friday at 1 p.m. til?).
Next week will be the return of Senior Dancing at the Senior Center from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. July 17. The oldies but goodies … 50s and 60s music.
Also, there may be a little line dancing going on. So, if you are a swinging single this is the place to be. For those couples who use to come to the senior dances, it will be fun to meet again and share the time you had together and also invite your friends to come and be a part of a bigger and better Senior Dance night.
Tony Edwards and his band will help to make it all happen. There is also talk about Elvis entertainment at the next dance?? Be at the first dance and share your ideas for future dances. There will be refreshments and valet parking.
Lot of talk about crafts and ping pong? Stop by the Senior Center and pick up a calendar and fill out a questionnaire for us, it will help the officers for future planning. You still have time to make it for games this afternoon.
Thought for the week: When you look at the world in a narrow way, how narrow it seems! When you look at it in a mean way, how mean it is! When you look at it selfishly, how selfish it is! But when you look at it in a broad, generous, friendly spirit, what wonderful people you find in it.

May God bless you until we meet again.
