Sewage spill in Spanish Fort

Posted

According to a report received by the Baldwin County Health Department from Baldwin County Sewer Service, a sewer spill occurred today on Buzbee Road in the Spanish Fort area.  A stuck float in the lift station resulted in an unknown amount of sewage being discharged. The sewage entered the road ditch and flowed into a pond located at 32609 Buzbee Road.  The pond overflowed into a wetland with the ultimate destination being Boggy Branch.

The health department urges residents to exercise caution if using these bodies of water for recreational purposes. Thoroughly cook any fish or seafood caught near by and wash hands after coming in contact with the water, fish or seafood.

For information about the spill, call Baldwin County Sewer Service at 971-3022.
