SPANISH FORT, Ala. — SFEEF began the second annual Teacher/Student Grant program Oct. 15. Applications are available for teachers of all grade levels of the Spanish Fort Elementary School, Rockwell Elementary School, Spanish Fort Middle, and Spanish Fort High School.
This program is extremely important to the foundation for providing for enrichment of our children’s education. Debbie Robson and Crystal Menas are chairing the committee.
Teachers and their students will work together on the grant applications, which can be for a special classroom project, program, educational materials or supplies that will help the teachers enhance the students learning ability. Parents are urged to encourage their students and teachers to participate in this grant program, as it will be a great learning experience as well as very rewarding.
The submission deadline is set for Jan. 9, 2008. Judges will be chosen from outside the area, and the grants will be awarded in February 2008. The SFEEF awarded 11 grants in 2007 for a total of $25,000.
The SFEEF Board has approved a total of $30,000 for the 2007-08 grants for the 2,681 students that attend the Spanish Fort schools. Funds for these grants are being provided from the proceeds of Fifth Fiesta at Five Rivers Delta Resource Center and “Haulin’ Hooves Bull Run” at the Eastern Shore Centre.
