SFHS holds Fall Fashion Show

SPANISH FORT — Models strutted down a lighted fashion runway Friday at the Fall Fashion Show at Spanish Fort High School, and raised approximately $1,800.

The junior class at SFHS sponsored the fashion show to raise funds for the junior/senior prom. Cathy Hughes, choir director, accompanied the SFHS girls’ choir on piano for the opening number. The ensemble performed doo-wop songs to a packed gym.

As high tempo songs were played, 20 students took to the fashion runway, which was bordered by small white lights. They modeled an assortment of formal wear, active wear and day wear.

Much to the delight of the students, 16 staff members and teachers put on a performance called “Flashback,” wearing clothes of the 50s and 60s.

Seventh grader Sydney Strickland was hoping to see some “cool things that will make me look a little bit cooler.”

Fifth grade head basketball coach Arthur Haynes said the event was important, and he hoped it showed what Spanish Fort High School is all about — character, good conduct and a good performance.

Gail Cates was the teacher sponsor. Belk and After Hours Formalwear provided all the apparel and donated l00 percent of the proceeds to the school. Emcee of the fashion show was Tim Daniels.
